Sharing with Kindle

The Kindle app on your iPhone and iPad can send upload books to your Kindle account and sync to all of your Kindle devices.

Troubleshooting Send To Kindle

Use the the Kindle app on your iPhone or iPad to add new books to your Kindle account. Books uploaded to Send to Kindle will sync to all of your Kindle apps and Kindle devices.

If you have the Kindle app installed on this iOS device, you might just need to enable this sharing function.

  1. Swipe the row of sharing icons all the way until you see More… on the right.
  2. Tap More….
  3. Scroll through the available apps until you see Kindle (or “Send to Kindle” on older iOS versions).
  4. Tap Kindle.
  5. On older versions of iOS, toggle Send to Kindle ON and tap Done to save.

If you see the SUCCESS message, Amazon should add the book to your Kindle cloud within a few minutes. You can check the status by logging into your Amazon account and clicking Your Content and Devices under your Account and Lists settings.

If the book is available in Your Content and Devices, you can download it to your iOS device.

  1. Open the Kindle app
  2. Tap Library
  3. Tap ALL at the top of the Kindle app
  4. Tap the filter icon and tap Docs

If the book is not available within ten minutes, Amazon did not successfully upload the MOBI.

To send the book to your Kindle cloud, you can set up the email Send To Kindle method (WATCH THE VIDEO!). Or, you can read the book right in the BookFunnel app. Just back up and tap the book cover to start reading.

If Send To Kindle is unable to upload the MOBI, the service may be down temporarily or there may be something that it doesn’t like in the MOBI’s metadata.

Did you share the Kindle file, or did you tap the Other/EPUB file type by mistake?

  1. Back up to your library and tap and hold the book cover again.
  2. Select Send to Another App.
  3. Tap Kindle.
  4. Tap Open Share Window and select Kindle (or Send To Kindle).

If you still see “Incompatible document type”, there may be something that the Kindle app doesn’t like in the MOBI’s metadata.

You can either email the book to Send to Kindle (WATCH THE VIDEO) or read the book right inside the BookFunnel app. Just back up and tap the book cover to start reading.
