BookFunnel for iOS

Sharing with Kindle

The BookFunnel App supports both Copy to Kindle to send books to your Kindle for iOS app and Send to Kindle to upload books to your Kindle Cloud for reading on other Kindle devices.

Troubleshooting Copy To Kindle

The Copy to Kindle function should save and open the MOBI in your Kindle app instantly. The file will not sync to other Kindle apps or devices.

Note: Amazon removed Copy To Kindle on iOS 13. Only Send to Kindle is available on iOS 13.

Amazon removed Copy to Kindle on iOS 13. Amazon still allows Send to Kindle for MOBI file sharing.

iOS 12 and older: If you have the Kindle app installed on this iOS device and don’t see Copy to Kindle, you may need to enable it.

  1. Swipe the row of sharing icons all the way until you see More… on the right.
  2. Tap More….
  3. Scroll through the available apps until you see Copy To Kindle.
  4. Tap or toggle on Copy to Kindle and tap Done to save.

If you tap Copy to Kindle and the book file opens in the Kindle app, the MOBI is saved in there too. We just need to find it!

  1. Open your Kindle app and tap LIBRARY
  2. Tap DOWNLOADED near the top of the screen
  3. Tap the filter icon on the left
  4. The top filter option is prime reading, Read, Unread, etc.
  5. Tap Docs

Copy to Kindle saves a copy of the MOBI in your local Kindle app only. If you want the book to sync to your other Kindles and Kindle apps, use Send to Kindle instead.

If you tap Copy to Kindle and the book does not open in the Kindle app, there may be something that the Kindle app doesn’t like in the MOBI’s metadata.

You can either email the book to Send to Kindle (WATCH THE VIDEO) or read the book right inside the BookFunnel app. Just back up and tap the book cover to start reading.

Troubleshooting Send To Kindle

The Send to Kindle sharing function (just “Kindle” on iOS 13) should upload the MOBI to Amazon’s personal document storage and sync to your other Kindle apps and Kindle devices.

Send To Kindle sharing changed the app icon to just kindle in iOS 13

If you have the Kindle app installed on this iOS device, you might just need to enable this sharing function.

  1. Swipe the row of sharing icons all the way until you see More… on the right.
  2. Tap More….
  3. Scroll through the available apps until you see Kindle (or “Send to Kindle” on older iOS versions).
  4. Tap Kindle.
  5. On older versions of iOS, toggle Send to Kindle ON and tap Done to save.

If you see the SUCCESS message, Amazon should add the book to your Kindle cloud within a few minutes. You can check the status by logging into your Amazon account and clicking Your Content and Devices under your Account and Lists settings.

Example:

Amazon.com/mycd

Amazon.co.uk/mycd

If the book is available in Your Content and Devices, you can download it to your iOS device.

  1. Open the Kindle app
  2. Tap Library
  3. Tap ALL at the top of the Kindle app
  4. Tap the filter icon and tap Docs

If the book is not available within ten minutes, Amazon did not successfully upload the MOBI.

To send the book to your Kindle cloud, you can set up the email Send To Kindle method (WATCH THE VIDEO!). Or, you can read the book right in the BookFunnel app. Just back up and tap the book cover to start reading.

If Send To Kindle is unable to upload the MOBI, the service may be down temporarily or there may be something that it doesn’t like in the MOBI’s metadata.

You can either email the book to Send to Kindle (WATCH THE VIDEO) or read the book right inside the BookFunnel app. Just back up and tap the book cover to start reading.

Did you share the Kindle file, or did you tap the Other/EPUB file type by mistake?

  1. Back up to your library and tap and hold the book cover again.
  2. Select Send to Another App.
  3. Tap Kindle.
  4. Tap Open Share Window and select Kindle (or Send To Kindle).

If you still see “Incompatible document type”, there may be something that the Kindle app doesn’t like in the MOBI’s metadata.

You can either email the book to Send to Kindle (WATCH THE VIDEO) or read the book right inside the BookFunnel app. Just back up and tap the book cover to start reading.
